Shawn Devlin, Owner/Manager/Licensed Funeral Director

The funeral home’s history begins a little differently than the traditional funeral home as Shawn and Anne have started Devlin Funeral Home at 23 and 25 years old.

Shawn and Anne met right here in Bennington by chance on a call for both a local funeral home and rescue squad.

Shawn, a Bennington native, son to Art and Maryellen Devlin has been around a family business as young as 3 months old when his Grandparents; Edwin and Carol Maroney purchased Willy's variety, a hometown staple known for their baked goods and seasonal flowers. Shawn learned quickly the value of a dollar and importance that the store had on the community for local goods and a friendly family face to greet customers.

Anne was raised in a similar manner, daughter to Stephen and Dianne Jackson of Ferrisburgh VT, between the family campground and the Jackson's ninth generation dairy farm, summers were spent cleaning cottages for guests, haying for cows to have food in the winter, and spending long afternoons sitting on the front porch of the farmhouse with her great grandparents Dean and Alberta Jackson listening to the wiser on lessons in hard work, treating everyone with the utmost kindness, love for animals, land, and tradition.

Shawn and Anne reside in Bennington in their newly purchased home together with their three loving cats. Both members of the Bennington Elks Lodge, and the VFW Post 1332, Shawn and Anne know the importance of community relations and love being an active member of just some of the organizations Bennington has to offer.

Shawn has over six years experience in funeral service, two of which have been spent as a licensed funeral director for a local funeral home. Right out of high school Shawn worked in a funeral home setting and was so dedicated to the profession decided to expand his education in the field and attended Hudson Valley Community College where he obtained his degree in Mortuary Science in 2021.

Anne moved to Bennington six years ago after being offered a job with Bennington Rescue Squad where she maintained a full time job as well as working for a funeral home part time to expand her knowledge of funeral service, including working calling hours, funeral services, and doing transfers across the state. Anne will be attending CCV this spring to obtain her funeral directors license.
