Frequently asked questions.
1. What are the benefits of pre-arranging a funeral?
Pre-arranging a funeral locks in the cost at the time of arrangement, ensuring that your family won’t need to pay any additional fees to the funeral home unless changes or additional services are requested at the time of need. This offers peace of mind and financial protection.
2. How do you help families personalize funeral services to honor their loved ones?
At Devlin Family Funeral Home, we go the extra mile to ensure that every service is a personal tribute. We can incorporate music, slideshows, prayer cards, photos, and any other special requests to honor your loved one’s unique legacy.
3. What options are available for eco-friendly or green funerals?
While there are currently no cemeteries in the Bennington area offering green burials, Vermont allows green burials on private property if approved by the town. A green burial involves interment without embalming or a casket, allowing for a more natural return to the earth.
4. Can pre-arranged funeral plans be transferred to another funeral home?
Yes, pre-arranged funeral plans are generally transferable between funeral homes, with rare exceptions. If you have existing arrangements, Devlin Family Funeral Home can assist in transferring those services once we are fully operational.
5. What happens if I prepay for my funeral and don’t pass for 30 years?
If you prepay for your funeral, the costs for the funeral home services will be guaranteed, regardless of how many years pass. Any increases in external costs, such as cemetery fees or death certificates, would be the responsibility of your family.
6. What types of funeral services do you provide?
Devlin Family Funeral Home offers a range of services, including traditional burial, cremation, memorial services, graveside services, and arrangements for celebrations of life. We also hope to introduce water-based cremation in the future if there is demand.
7. Do you accept life insurance policies for payment?
Yes, we accept life insurance policies. Our funeral directors will work closely with your family to explain the process when services are needed.
8. What facilities do you offer for visitations and services?
Our funeral home, located at 332 North St, Bennington, VT, features a large chapel for visitations, memorials, and funeral services, as well as a spacious lobby to accommodate larger gatherings.
9. How does your staff handle remains?
Our trained staff will ensure respectful handling of all remains, whether human or cremated. We coordinate with cemeteries, crematories, and other service locations to provide seamless and dignified care.
10. What follow-up services do you provide for families after the funeral?
After the funeral, you can expect a personal follow-up call from either Shawn or Anne within a week to check on your family’s needs. We also offer ongoing support and resources to assist with any additional needs in the months following the service.
